I also thought about using an optical out switch, where I could switch between optical out sources. Stay logged in Login or Sign Up to the Forum! FWIW the manual doesn't mention any limitations for the optical audio out, but then it doesn't really go into much detail at all regarding the optical out. If it still changes, then I'm not sure where that is coming from.
We tried 3 separate receivers today with optical outs, and it seems nothing will pass an HDMI source to optical in 5.1. I read the manual that came with the switch, and changed the jumper setting to pull/push 5.1 no matter what (Mode 2), and that solved the issue. Any help is appreciated. I also use AppleTV and MrMC (which is a Kodi port).
I don't get any sound through the receiver.I plugged the optical from my PS3 to my receiver and it works fine, thus telling me something is up with the TV.I have Previous version: I would load a TV series, the sound would output on the TV and the 2.1 system, without changing the audio settings (TV Speakers) Now: The TV series Now, when I watch TV, I have 5.1 sound. Since the Bose is only 2.1 you will not lose any performance running this way.
