There are 3 options: (1) Carefully dismantle the drive system and rebuild in a larger enclosure (easily available). Once you get the metal jacket out pull off the rubber bumpers there are screws underneath then you can take out the drive note that the case is constructed like a my first one died after two months and i just got a replacement today and its the same problem you're having. Even if it is the software to change it won't recognise the drive after the delayed write failed error in any case and so there's not much I could do to check over here I bought 2 500GB drives, one for work, and one to back up the work.
I think at least some of the problems experienced by other people are due to USB cable or USB root device issues. Told seagate I had lost confidence in their enclosure not their drive. What a pain! i did a check disk (until phase 5), it works fine, i did a simultaneous copy from A->B and B->A (assuming B is my Free Agent).
It's a weird word, even sounds a bit rude, but somehow it is mildly descriptive of what you have to do. I know it's a terrible situation but without removing the drive from the casing, there isn't much that I can help you with. So to summarize the drive is..... So the Seagate software did not solve the problem.
