The top appeard for a little bit but then crashed. They are needed for the GIMP/PS path. So, I suggest avoiding the requirement to change shape. The second time there is less load on the SL server. https://community.secondlife.com/t5/Avatar/Alpha-layer-is-not-working/qaq-p/1930997

Plus the different size avatars make it almost impossible to get a good pattern match. Disabling HTTP Textures results in the same behavior as failing to clear texture cache prior to login. 3. Another solution is to wear ‘glitch layers.’ Just as we have glitch pants for system skirts, glitch clothes can be used with Fitted and Plain mesh clothes. Even with prim and sculpty shoes and other attachments alpha layers have become a part of wearing these items. Why it's just me so far, I don't know. The only instance of this that I have noted is when the alpha layer is loading -- sometimes this takes awhile.

I *detest* mesh clothing and shoes, because I don't want to edit my avatar.
