Ask ! Here's what I did:Bought a SATA to eSATA adapter bracket that normally fits in an empty slot. Note that once you get it working, if you want to be able to "hot switch" the eSATA drive (turn it on with the computer already running and have the drive Hot swaps with the SATA external drive (thru an eSATA connector plate) worked fine with XP Pro but not so with Win7.How did you eventually solve it? http://taskflowapp.com/windows-10/sandisk-adapter-not-working-windows-7.html

I was just explaining my comment that was supposed to be humorous. My further reading shows lots of controversy regarding esata connectors and cable length.I have feeling my problem is the Sabrent enclosure. Anyways, it works with a USB cable, so I'm waiting until my esata cables get delivered to see if the problem is my esata cable. Some SATA controllers also contain hot swap support, but some don't - that was not required in the SATA spec's, but IS required of a true eSATA controller.
